Are you aware Cincinnati is home to the American Sign Museum? Were you even aware there is such a thing? There is, indeed, such a place and it’s amazing. It was founded in nine-teen ninety-nine and tonight is the first time I’ve ever stepped foot in the place. Kathy toured it a number of weeks ago and bought a membership. It is amazing. It’s full of nostalgia from my childhood and days prior to my existence.
While the taking in these images of days gone by was not our primary reason for entering the museum, it was delightful to see the few signs I did see. We went tonight to attend the last in a series of six jazz music events sponsored by Jazz Alive, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting this form of art. Tonight’s line-up featured the CPS (Cincinnati Public Schools) High School Ensemble and the Myles Twitty quartet. It so happens that Myles Twitty (great name for a Jazz musician, btw) is the director of the CPS Ensemble.
The kids put on a great show, letting virtuosity flow from their instruments and between each other. I don’t know a lot about music. I know what I like and that’s where my knowledge ends, but I do know when there is a lot of eye contact and smiles shared between the players, which there was tonight, there is love present, love of music, love of how well they each play their parts together, and love that feeds the audience as it did me. And that’s where the Spirit moved today.
What happened in your ordinary life today where you can now see the Spirit at work?
American Sign Museum is awesome. Jenny and I attended a musical theater performance there, great venue. And we've toured several times, interesting history lessons.
