So that’s it! I’m done. Well, I’m done working in the corporate, for-profit world. I had to make one final trip in to the office to turn in the equipment they issued me so I could work from home fifty percent of the time. You can see the monitor sticking out of the top of the box. There’s a mini-docking station in there, too. I’m currently looking around the workspace and it’s noticeably light on monitors occupying the desk surface. While there’s still some clutter waiting to find a home, the far more empty space feels liberating.
I like the idea and the reality of this transformed workspace. I can see books on the bookshelves that used to be hidden, I can see space to put pen to paper and pick up some of my old morning habits. And I can do see all of this without a need to look back and see how the team is faring. I got the full picture of how well they’re going to do without me earlier today.
My plan today was to start shutting down around noon and disassemble my home office equipment so I could drive it to our regional center to be returned. But, of course, as escalated issue came in right around eleven o’clock. It was honestly new to me so there was not much I could do about it other than offer the team some tips. “If this were mine to solve I would start here, and there." “Oh! Check this formula in the spreadsheet.” Etc…
Regardless, there seemed to be some hesitation from the team to want to let me go. So I offered “Look, I’m going to get some lunch, walk to my daughter’s house to work out, then I’ll check in on you at two o’clock.” That seemed reasonable. And it was reasonable. I did all of those things, checked in at two and found the team was handling the situation with style, ease, and grace. My work was done. The Spirit is calling me to new work. Pray for me as I engage in it.
What happened in your ordinary life today where you can now see the Spirit at work?
Love this!
The end of a chapter in life, the beginning of a new chapter. Pretty cool :)
