Movement Of The Spirit Found Rising From The Ashes
Life really abounds and flourishes when it is treated well and is allowed to expand. Life truly abounds when we see promise turn to desolation but then back to promise and hope. I saw that tonight at dinner.
We in my group of peer spiritual directors have a monthly meeting where we engage in what we call “peer supervision.” It’s a gathering that allows us to hear each others’ stories about our direction experiences and ask questions designed to help us to understand how God is calling us to respond in to certain clients in certain situations. One of us had to leave our group a couple of years ago due to extreme illness. Our friend’s prognosis was rather dire for a while.
But tonight we got a special surprise when our fallen friend joined us for dinner afterward. The very fact he was able to show up and join us was enough to bring rejoicing, but to hear his stories of thriving despite some complications post-surgery is truly amazing. And it’s testament to the how powerful life can be and how powerful the desire to live can be. And in that desire is the place where the Spirit moves.
