Movement Of The Spirit Found In Hearing My Name
Grandchild number seven talks a lot! The only disadvantage is only he knows what he is saying. This little one, a toddler now at nearly eight-teen months, no longer a baby, constantly talks up a storm, telling all who have ears to hear about the important matters on his mind. The trouble is he’s speaking generally in a toddler language of unintelligible sounds that mean nothing to we who learned not to listen to his babble. We try, but his elocutions make sense to only him. He’s good with the common non-verbal hand gestures that indicate he’s all done with lunch or he wants more lunch. But verbal conveyance of his wants, needs, ideas, etc…elude him, until today.
To be fair, he has been saying some words that make sense as “mommy” and “yes.” In fact, we heard him say “yes” very clearly last week while on vacation. Today, however, his vociferation was quite clear. As I was walking down the stairs of their house to get to the garage so I could work out, a clear and distinctive “papa” propelled from his larynx. I stopped in my tracks and turned to him waiting at the top of the stairs with his momma. He and his brothers came with me so they could play in the back yard while I was lifting.
All the while I was working out “papa, papa, papa, papa…” And every time he said it, I’d stop to acknowledge he said it. I hope he learns I’m responsive to the name, but I also hope he learns not to wear it out. Regardless, I heard the Spirit moving in those cries, drawing number seven and me into deeper relationship. You can see him, if you look closely enough, in the background of the attached picture, under the play structure.
What happened in your ordinary life today where you can now see the Spirit at work?
